For the Defense Engineering & Technology organization in the Netherlands we are looking for an Engineering Team Lead. The Engineering Team Lead plays a pivotal role in bringing the deliverables for Technology Development and Engineering projects to a great success on time and within budget. You will be part of a dedicated, multidisciplinary project team within GKN Fokker Aerospace and responsible to lead a team (or teams) with a variety of different engineering functions in order to deliver the assigned engineering project or Technology Development objectives on schedule, within budget, and to the defined technical requirements. The Engineering Team Lead is reporting into the Chief Engineer of the Structures&General product group.

You have worked before in a multidisciplinary environment and are familiar with Engineering and Technology Development. You are willing to learn and are able to arrange things. You will bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:
• Must possess a high level of engineering functional knowledge; typically Technical Excellence Framework level 4 or higher in an appropriate Area of Expertise, with some experience of having worked/interfaced with other Engineering & Manufacturing Engineering disciplines in order to manage successfully the functional project team.
• Must possess a level of business expertise especially in the Aerospace industry and in the functional area the project/programme is responsible for (e.g. Design, Analysis, EWIS, Transparencies etc.) in order to successfully support the whole of the IPT in achieving the overall business objectives.
• Must possess a good level of technical project leadership as the role is responsible for the on-time and cost delivery of the technical activities in their functional team at a level of quality acceptable to the IPT.
• Must possess a high level of technical problem solving skills to manage successfully the technical activities on a project.
• The role directly affects the non-recurring cost of the technical activities and the recurring price and cost to support of a resulting product. In this way the impact of the role is directly proportional to the size of the project on which they are employed and the forecasted future sales and in-service support costs.
• The role requires a good interpersonal skills especially for managing the technical community and associated interfaces– see below for details of skills and personal attributes required.
• 8-10+ years of relevant experience gained within an engineering discipline, ideally within an aerospace environment and in multi-disciplinary engineering project teams (Design/CM, EWIS, Analysis, M&P, Manufacturing/ Industrialization).
• Able to act under own initiative within defined functional procedures / governance.
• Ability to describe technical information to a wide audience and at all levels within the business.
• The ability to act as an integrator in a customer-facing role.
• Demonstrates a commercial awareness to be able to analyse customer requirements in order to create or input into offload packages and/or bid documentation.
