I graduated from Aston University and joined GKN Aerospace in 2021 on the Global Graduate Programme. I started at the Global Technology Centre as a Future Technology Research Engineer. The graduate programme is amazing, I will try different roles and really challenge myself. I get to meet great people in the business, experiment with new things, and learn skills and gain technical knowledge. We have a culture that encourages engagement and ownership for our individual learning. The company really supports me through training and development, making sure I'm using the best techniques to help me flourish in my role. One of our culture principles is 'open and honest', this means I have a voice and I'm listened to.
I'm passionate about making a difference, making a lasting impact; there are opportunities to influence change and continuous improvement in my job. In the future, renewable energy is what I want to focus on, with management responsibility and perhaps a leadership role.
The streamlined shape of birds, their structure, the tips of their wings have all inspired aerospace engineers. In my first graduate rotation I was part of a team that was working on an electric flying bus concept! It's all about adaptability and sustainable ways of improving aviation.
For anyone joining GKN Aerospace you definitely need drive, ambition, ownership of your development and to be a solution orientated person - don't be afraid to speak up, be willing to be challenged and learn new things.
You may not know; I'm from Cameroon, my first language is French. I travel back home and I enjoy spending time with my family. I'm very active, I go to the gym and try things that bring a thrill to my life. I'm up for anything, I'm that kind of person.
